Weights and Resistance

Weights & Resistance Training

Studies have shown that resistance training and balance training are intrinsically linked to counteracting normal age related decline. Resistance training counteracts natural decline in bone density, whilst balance training promotes increased joint strength and stability. Age related physical decline begins in our 50s but with these interventions can be counteracted to contribute to ongoing greatly improved quality of life.

 

This class uses a range of weights, a fitness bench and other resistance equipment to work key body parts and muscle groups. Its led by our very experienced and motivational instructor, Stuart.

Pilates

Pilates is a fabulous all round body and mind exercise.

1. Improve your core strength

2. Increase your flexibility

3. Work on your posture

4. Experience a greater mind to body connection.

5. Release your inner tension.

Lara is our superb instructor. She says:

"Pilates has been a part of my life for a long time! My first taste of it was nearly 25 years ago as part of a fitness and injury prevention programme when I was training to be a dancer. It then became a vital rehab method for me after the birth of my first child nearly 15 years ago. It was at this point I truly saw the benefits of this incredible, life-long technique. I have specialist, Classical training and teaching experience in mat Pilates, reformer Pilates, pre and post - natal Pilates and Pilates for Elders. I am currently in the process of completing a course for exercise in the peri-post menopause phase and a 'lift heavy' Pilates course with trainer to the stars Sarah Gorman. I enjoy implementing these additional techniques into my sessions. My classes draw upon my experiences from both my dance and Pilates backgrounds, with a focus on technique, having fun but most of all, just getting the body moving!"

We take the "work" out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you'll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise.

Yoga

Yoga

Yoga classes vary according to the style of class on offer. Designed to increase flexibility and to calm the mind.

Yoga is led by the fabulously flexible  Jessica and supported by our other excellent instructors including Juliette and Sarra 

Legs Bums and Tums

Lower Body Shred

 As the name suggests, you will be specifically targeting the abdomen and lower body. The focus is very much on toning, tightening and developing strength.

The irrepressible Fanny leads this ever popular class for us.
